Website design for charities and not-for-profits
We design and build websites for UK charities, community groups and not-for-profits. We’re a Community Interest Company ourselves, so you get a fixed price you can take to your trustees, 15% off every web project, and a site your volunteers can update without calling us.

What a charity website needs to do
Your website gets read by three different groups: people who need your help, people who might give money or time, and funders checking you’re the real thing. Each one should find what they came for in a few seconds, on a phone.
We plan every charity site around those visitors:
- People you help find your services, opening times and how to get in touch, in plain English.
- Supporters see a clear way to donate or volunteer, with forms that work on a phone.
- Funders find your impact, your charity number and your annual reports, so the site backs up your bids.
What’s included
- Accessible design that meets WCAG 2.2 AA, so the site works with screen readers, keyboard navigation and larger text.
- Donation and volunteer forms, with spam protection.
- Impact pages that set out what you do and what changed, ready to link from a funding application.
- Built for phones first, with fast pages. We aim for a mobile PageSpeed score of 85 or more.
- Found in local search. Page titles, headings and your organisation’s details set up so Google knows where you work.
- Easy for volunteers to edit. We build on WordPress and show your team how to change text, add news and upload photos.
- Secure from day one. HTTPS, up-to-date software, and backups when you’re on our hosting.
Prices for charities
| Standard price | With the 15% charity discount | |
|---|---|---|
| Five-page website | £650 | £552.50 |
| Website with online booking or a shop | £1,200 – £1,800 | £1,020 – £1,530 |
The discount applies to every web and app project for charities and not-for-profits, including CIOs and CICs. Monthly plans are charged at the standard price: £45 a month for maintenance and security updates, and £25 a month for hosting and backups. You get a written, fixed price before any work starts. We’re not VAT registered, so there’s no VAT to add. See all prices.
Paying for it: a 20% deposit to start, then an invoice after each stage. Invoices are due in 14 days, by bank transfer or card. You own the finished site and its content.
How a charity website project runs
- A 30-minute call. Tell us about your charity, who uses your website and what isn’t working. If your current site only needs fixing, we’ll say so.
- A fixed quote. A written price and a page list you can share with trustees before anyone commits.
- Design and build. You see a working draft on a private link and check it on your own phone.
- Launch. We redirect your old pages so you keep any Google rankings, connect Search Console and test every form.
- Afterwards. Run the site yourselves, or put it on a maintenance plan and we keep it updated and backed up.
Most five-page sites go live within 1–2 weeks of the content being ready.
Charity work we’ve done
Heritage Bridge CIO is a charity that celebrates the shared heritage of UK communities through events, education and community work. We built its website, heritagebridge.uk, and in October 2024 donated its logo, letterhead, roller banner and event posters.
Our founder is a trustee of Heritage Bridge CIO.
We also run 2Factor.co.uk, a free community website with step-by-step guides to turning on two-factor authentication.
Why we work with charities
FCOMS UK CIC is a Community Interest Company (company number 15086338). We charge fair prices for websites, apps and repairs, and the profit pays for refurbished laptops and digital-skills help for families in Sandwell. When you hire us, your budget stays in the community sector. See our community work.
Questions about charity websites
Who gets the charity discount?
Charities and not-for-profits, including charitable incorporated organisations (CIOs) and community interest companies (CICs), get 15% off every web and app project. The discount covers the project itself, not monthly hosting or maintenance.
Do you build free websites for charities?
Sometimes. Our directors can choose to donate work to a charity or community project, and they decide case by case. Tell us about your project and we’ll be straight about what we can do.
Can our volunteers update the site?
Yes. It’s built on WordPress. We show your team how to edit pages, post news and change photos.
Can you fix our current website instead of replacing it?
Often, yes. If the site is sound and needs speed, mobile or accessibility fixes, we’ll quote for that instead.
Do we have to host with you?
No. We can build on your existing hosting, or host it for £25 a month including backups.
Do you work with charities outside the West Midlands?
Yes. Website projects run remotely, so we work with charities anywhere in the UK.
Planning a new website for your charity? Tell us what you do and what the site needs to achieve. We’ll reply within one working day with a fixed price or a time to talk.
