Our community impact

FCOMS UK CIC is a Community Interest Company. Profit from our websites, apps and repairs pays for refurbishing donated computers and getting them to local families, schools and people who need them to get online.

In numbers

In our first 15 months (August 2023 to December 2024), we:

  • trained 39 people in everyday IT skills through our grant-funded courses,
  • helped people buy 11 recycled laptops,
  • built eight websites.

Donate a laptop or computer

Got an old laptop or PC you don’t use? We wipe it securely, refurbish it and give it to a local family or community group. If it can’t be repaired, we recycle it responsibly.

What we can take: laptops and desktop PCs up to about eight years old, plus monitors, keyboards and mice. We can’t take printers or old CRT screens.

Your data: we wipe every drive with secure-erase software before the device is reused. If a drive is faulty, we destroy it. Ask, and we’ll give you a certificate confirming the wipe.

To offer a device, send us a message with what you’d like to donate and roughly how old it is, or call 0300 561 0600. We’ll arrange a collection or a drop-off by appointment.

Alex’s computer

We gave a computer and monitor to Alex. His father, Andrzej, wrote to us afterwards:

“Big thank you for the computer and monitor you gave to my son, Alex. This is a really kind gift, and we are so grateful. We appreciate all the work you and your organisations do for the local community.”

Barnardo’s family story

In April 2026, Barnardo’s Yardley and Hodge Hill Early Help team referred a family facing financial hardship. The children had no reliable computer for homework. We prepared a PC and our organiser delivered it to the family. Through their Barnardo’s advisor, the family told us:

“The equipment they (FCOMS UK) sent over has put a really big smile on my children’s face, they will stop fighting each other now to do their homework, the organiser called and delivered it (PC) without delay, we are extremely thankful”
